Saturday 18th November 10:00am - 1pm
Colchester Buddhist Centre was previously located on Manor Road where we had been operating since 1998. Our premises there was rented, and it was always our ambition to buy our own property. At the end of 2014, after years of saving donations given to the centre, we purchased 2 Portland Road. We began an ambitious project of restoring and extending the building which was completed in April 2017.
To celebrate our new centre we are hosting this Grand Opening Day, inviting everyone to come and see our new centre. Amalaketu will lead a dedication ceremony, and Mahamati will be making a special presentation on behalf of Sangharakshita, founder of the Triratna Buddhist Community. The ceremony will be followed by a reception with tea and cakes.
Everyone is welcome, even those who are not Buddhists. We hope that local residents will take the opportunity to come and see the completed building.
No - just turn up! We'll be providing tea and cakes, but if you would like to bring anything, you're welcome to do so.
We're very grateful for any donations if you wish to make one, but we won't be expecting those who come to this event to make a donation.
We're just off St. Botolph's Roundabout, across from the Colchester Town Station, just to the left of Mersea Road. Parking is available in Napier Road Car Park (first right off Mersea Road), a few minutes walk away, for £1.50.Find Us
